About Poe's Secret Garden

Welcome to the Poe Garden Club, a school gardening club for Kindergarten through 5th grade. We grow fruits and vegetables in our courtyard next to the theater room. Our aim is to inspire a love of nature, gardening, and sustainable living.

Our Program

Join the Poe Gardening Club to learn about planting, growing, and harvesting fruits and vegetables. Our experienced team will guide the students through the process of sustainable gardening, fostering a deeper connection with nature and the environment.

We will meet after school on both Mondays and Wednesdays starting September 11, 2024. Gardeners can choose the day that works best for them or come both days!

Gardeners will meet in the Cafeteria by 3:15 and will head to Poe's "secret garden" with Ms. Woodford. There we will plan, plant and care for our Poe garden. Pickup will be at 4:00 at the butterfly garden gate on Wilton Street.

There is a small fee of either $15 per class or you can purchase the entire semester for $97. The semester plan is perfect for those who know their child wants to come once a week, every week. These fees help to cover the cost of plants and additional tools and materials needed for the Poe garden. Donations are welcome as well as they help to support our Poe garden.

Our mission is to inspire a love of the outdoors and of sustainable living through hands on experience for young learners.

Farm Trips

Embark on an exciting farm trip with the Poe Gardening Club. We will plan to go on one farm field trip per semester on a weekend to explore other local gardens and farms.

We'll explore local farms, interact with farmers, and witness the journey of food from farm to table. Our farm trips are designed to educate and inspire children about the importance of sustainable agriculture and healthy eating.
